Bridget Wickham holds masters degrees in English and Finance and was a Director of CS First Boston NZ for many years before joining Carter Holt Harvey, one of New Zealand’s major manufacturing companies in 1991. She held a variety of senior executive positions at Carter Holt Harvey, including General Manager of the Plastics subsidiary, a $100m business with operations in Australia and New Zealand, and Director of Strategy for Carter Holt Harvey. She is Director of External Relations and Communications at the University of Auckland.
In 1998 she was awarded a Harkness Fellowship to study ‘Best Practise in Performance at Harvard, working under Professor Bob Kaplan and Dr David Norton.
During 2000, she ran a project in New Zealand called The Great New Zealand Business Venture, funded by 18 large corporates. This programme aimed to accelerate the creation of viable small businesses through a nation-wide process of mentoring and workshops. This project was extremely successful attracting more than 3000 aspiring entrepreneurs.
Bridget is currently Chief Executive of University of Auckland Development Ltd., an organisation focused on establishing a range of co-funded Centres and Institutes with participation from the University, research organisations and private sector companies. She is also responsible for the development of the University Science and Technology Park and for the establishment of the ICEHOUSE, which includes an incubator, and is jointly funded by professional service firms and the University.
She is also director of the Knowledge Wave Trust, an organisation set up to facilitate the implementation of recommendations arising from the Knowledge Wave conference.
She is a Director of Sky City Ltd, Fisher & Paykel Appliances Ltd., Competitive Auckland and of Industry New Zealand.
